Role Overview
The Senior Analyst must be well versed with the technical and policy aspects of the power sector. The candidate should meet the requirements related to project proposals, deliverables, schedule, and should be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams productively to meet the project objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Investigate present developments and technologies regarding Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) across states, national and international stages.
2. Conduct studies relevant to Renewable Energy policies/regulations and develop clear understanding to generate valuable inputs.
3. Develop concept notes, project ideas and proposals around relevant subjects considering their high relevance and social impacts.
4. Perform research activities, modelling tasks and make a strong knowledge-base of RE sector behaviour, performance, existing technologies transformations and business models.
5. Familiar with concepts of tariff determination, regulatory reforms, financial modelling, retail tariff design, market assessments, open access, energy auditing, ACS-ARR etc.
6. Coordinate with various sector stakeholders including utility companies, regulators, funding agencies, government bodies and other research institutions.
7. Document and publish the research findings in detailed reports, journals and conferences, op-eds, newsletters
Qualifications
· Master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering, Business or related field.
· 3-4 years relevant professional experience in policy and economic analysis related to RE & EE sectors
· Writing high-quality research reports, including white papers, journals, policy briefs, etc.
· BEE certified energy auditor/manager is preferred
Experience
· Expertise in carrying out cost-benefit, life-cycle cost, impacts, forecasting, market penetration, and consequences analyses.
· Prepare medium to long-term RE & EE sector outlook for various states.
· Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in RE & EE sector domain.
Experience working with regulatory commissions, DISCOMs, transmission utilities, renewable nodal agencies, solar system integrators/developers, ministries and government bodies.
· Basic understanding on concepts of power purchase agreements, electricity market design, Deviation settlement mechanism, demand response and open access.
Skill Set
· Competence in using software and statistical tools such as MS Excel and tableau (Python, R and SAS will be advantage) to develop economic business models.
· Proven ability to assess RE & EE sector operations to derive innovative alternatives and approaches for problem solving.
· Good listener with demonstrated ability to present and win support for ideas.
· Willingness to travel frequently to collect necessary data and discuss study findings.
· Ability to make effective and timely decisions.
