Role Overview

The Senior Associate must be well versed with the technical and policy aspects of the Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) sectors. The candidate should meet the requirements related to project proposals, deliverables, schedule, and should be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams productively to meet the project objectives. The candidate will contribute to formulating strategies and recommendations to drive effective policy advocacy at the state and national level. The position, thus, offers an exciting opportunity to influence and shape the future of India’s RE and EE sectors.

Responsibilities
Regulatory and Policy Developments
·       Stay updated with the evolving regulatory framework in the RE and EE sector, and monitor and analyse policy developments, initiatives, and reforms at state and national levels.

·       Conduct thorough analysis and assessment of RE technologies, business models, identify potential impacts, and provide recommendations and inputs for strategic decision-making.

·       Contribute to developing and implementing effective policies and ensuring alignment with project objectives and organizational goals.

Stakeholder Engagement
·       Build and maintain strong relationships with central govt. agencies, state nodal agencies, regulatory authorities, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders.

·       Represent the organization in industry forums and discussions and participate in roundtable meetings and conferences to provide expert insights and contribute to policy discussions.

Research and Analysis
·       Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging trends, and the impact of emerging technologies in the RE and EE sectors.

·       Develop concept notes, project ideas, and proposals around relevant subjects, considering their relevance and social impacts.

·       Conduct studies relevant to RE & EE sector policies/regulations and develop a clear understanding to generate valuable inputs.

Travel
·       Travel within India to engage with different states, as required by the projects. The travel time distribution will vary depending on project needs and could range from approximately 10% to 20% of the working time.

 

Qualifications and Experience
·       A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Economics, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Energy Management, etc.).

·        A minimum of  7-8 years of overall experience working with a think tank, or in a similar role in green and clean energy consulting, governance consulting, data analytics, policy advocacy and communication, engineering and industry, renewable energy planning, etc. within the energy and power sector, preferably in India.

·       Demonstrated experience in writing high-quality research reports, white papers, journal articles, policy briefs, op-eds, etc.

Skill Set
·       Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory and policy documents and provide strategic insights.

·       Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

·       Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and building effective relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and government agencies at state levels.

·       Ability to lead & collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple project fronts.

·       Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

·       Proficiency in data analysis and research methodologies.

·       Extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework, policies, and market dynamics of India’s energy and power industry.

·       Familiarity with RE market trends, emerging technologies, and sustainability practices.

·       Technical knowledge about solar, wind and other DRE applications will be beneficial.
